I am sat here, thinking about and listening to Meat,as i am so often prone to do,and got to thinking about the last time i saw him live, and the difference in the ages of the people there, they were from 9-90,all with one thing in common,a love of Meat Loaf and his music, mostly fanatical, and all ready to talk to anyone about the great man and his life and music,so now i am thinking, what is it about Meat that people generations apart, worlds apart and from every walk of life make us fiercley loyal to him,i have been a fan for more years than i care to remember, but my loyalty to the man, the talent, and the legend that is Meat has never wavered, and people of all ages. spread over at least 5 generations feel the same, can anyone tell me why Meat fans are so loyal and protective of him and all very friendly to each other?
I can only speak for myself, Bob, but my loyalty comes from a deep appreciation for the way Meat reaches my soul through his music. The exquisite delivery of his lyrics feels as though they are being sent directly, personally to me.
As for the affection within which I hold all my Meat Loaf family, I think this stems from the common bond of a love of Meat himself. I would like to believe our collective love for him actually reaches him in the same way his love and dedication lifts us when we need it the most.
I too have been a fan since Meat Loaf first burst on the scene. I nearly broke my ankle falling off my seat because I couldn't stand still (standing on it for a better view) at the first concert I attended. I think it's sensational that younger generations can groove along with us in our adulation of a true Legend.
