Marvellous start to the day .. blue sky and sun, although they say we may get showers later. Just about to take off for Bakewell market .. see what bargains we may find :) It's a beautiful historic market town set on the river .. the narrow bridge has passing places which stick out from the bridge like small pointed flying butresses for those on foot, with two steps up so you can peer down into the river .. and the bridge is so old that the steps are worn down in deep furrows where centuries of passers by have stood there .. originally waiting for the carts to pass laden with cattle for market. They still have a cattle market there on Mondays, and as you wander around the general market the air is full of bleating and mooing from the auction sheds. It's the town where Bakewell pudding originated .. nothing like the Bakewell tarts that are commonplace .. Bakewell pudding has a flaky pastry base, covered in raspbery jam with a soft eggy and almond flavoured mixture cooked on top .. said to originate when a young kitchen maid made a mistake and put the jam under the mixture rather than on top .. Who knows? It's soft , not too sweet and absolutely delicious :)
So ... it's seize the day and off to market .. What's that Chiefie? You don't enjoy wandering round markets wondering where the hell the women have got to, and how much you'll be expected to carry back to the car? .. lol ..
Well then .. enjoy your day in the studio .. and let us know how you are eh?
Caryl ..
