Couldn't Have Said It Better - the whole album

Meat says this is his best album since BOOH .. I wouldn't disagree.
BOOH was a groundbreaking album, extraordinary, has sold countless millions, and when Meat sings these songs today he manages to make them fresh each time.
But these are mainly songs of teenage angst, real or remembered. CHSIB is a more mature album .. these songs are for a man who has been round the block a few times .. of a man who has loved, lost, loved again. This imo is an album of maturity delivered by a man in the sweet rich and fruitful August of his life. There is a depth of emotion in this album which reaches out and touches me. There is not a song that I do not like and enjoy, from the frenetic pace of Do It!! (delivered by someone who does .. like no other!!) to the yearning of Love You Out Loud, the sweetness happiness of Because of You, the haunting Did I Say That?, the powerful CHSIB title track and Testify, and the wonderful message in Forever Young.
We may have waited for this album, but it was oh so worth while .. I adore it, and Meat is imo justly proud of this great album.

With a lot of other stuff I mix up the way I play it but not with this one it seems to flow all the way through.

Testify is my personal fav and hearing it live at the nec was just awesome

Absolutely Brilliant - - Meat Loaf Has Done It Once Again

I read in an interview that Meat originally thought this was going to be his last CD. Well, if that was true, in my opinion, he clearly saved the best for last.

To me every song on the CD is perfect in it's own special way ... from the powerful duet Couldn't Have Said It Better (which clearly showcases the strong talents of Patti Russo as well as Meat), to the fun hard rocking tracks that you can't help singing along to : Do It, Testify, Tear Me Down & Love You Out Loud, to the slower, superb ballads Why Isn't That Enough and Forever Young. There's definitely something for everybody's taste ....

But if I have to choose my favorite song, it would be Did I Say That. Meat brings such a level of emotion to the song that I still get goosebumps every time I listen to it ... yes, it's sad, but powerful and truly overwhelming at the same time. It's one of the most beautiful and heart wrenching songs I've ever heard .. a true Meat Loaf classic

And Meat if you read this ... you have said this CD is the best work you've done since Bat ..... well sir, I Couldn't Have Said It Better Myself   Trust me - I don't think we'll see you becoming a decorator anytime soon

Bravo sir.  Well done and congratulations !!!

Vicki

I saw Meat & Patti perform "CHSIB" on Top of the Pops.  WOW - hubby brought the cd for me

It took me a few days, but I really warmed to all of the songs, love "Love You Out Loud"

I actually discovered "Mercury Blues" and "BOOH" by accident. I was on the bus coming home from work, and must have dozzed off after "Forever Young" - slight pause then "Mercury Blues" - that woke me up - great find (& woke me up in time before I missed my stop)

Testify, Tear Me Down & CHSIB - ace songs

Do It - love the sound - not used to all the words yet thou

As an album CHSIB is outstanding. The only song, I'm not crazy about is "DO IT", if I saw it live, I may change my mind.. but what the hey, 11 outta 12 ain't bad! This album flows so very well from song to song.. amazing. I can't place it ahead of Bat2.. I would definiately put it in a tie with Bat2 though. Well done Meat..   J.

Couldn't Have Said It Better

How Did I Survive Before You! Came into my life now I'd do anything at all. For You. This is BIG TIME, this is LARGER THAN LIFE!

My most favourite Meat record. I love every second of it, except the 2 minute delay between FY & MB (forever young & mercury blues.)

It is an incredible piece, that shows all of Meat's strengths! I spent 19 dollars on this CD, and forot the (i believe) 5 bucks change at the counter. Its OK though, cause Meat deserves every dollar. Its a marvelous record, beautiful, so awesome, so thrilling!

Every track is extraordinary. In its own creative way. (Which I learned to be funner and easier) Meat will make a character for every song. Its hard to find these characters to sing them, but when you discover them, its freakin' cool! The vocals in DIST are so true to the lyrics and just OUTSTANDING! The duets, the ballads the rock songs and more! Once again,

I love every song on here, and I would just die, if they ever re-made the album, and forgot a second. Because every second is like gold, and I'm FREAKIN'  FILTHY RICH!!

I would agree that this is his best album since Bat Out of Hell.  I waited it for it to be released in the US, sitting on my hands until September 23rd to buy the album.  All the songs are wonderful from the powerful duet Couldn't Have Said It Better (All I want to know is, why can't I sing like Patti Russo?), to Did I Say That as the character remembers his lost love, to Man of Steel with Pearl Aday's beautiful voice...I love Meat on that song.  Then there's the sheer happiness of Because of You.  This album is sensational!

Hi there

Just HAD to join in on this one!  To me, all of Meat's albums have their own special magic.  BOOH had always been my favourite...then I got my hands on CHSIB. I salute Peter Mokran, the man's a genius.  What a fantastic album this is.  It has a totally different feel from all the others Meat has done.  It has to be one of the greatest albums of all time imo. There's a theme running through the entire album - it's sensuous (CHSIB), it's emotional (DIST, Why Isn't That Enough? MOS), it screams Texas (Testify, Tear Me Down)!

Then there's that 'happy pop' that Meat talked about in Because of You.  Such a 'feel good' song.  Saving the best for last in my humble opinion - 'Do It'!  Oh do I love that song or what?  It makes me jig about nearly as much as BOOH or Dead Ringer  I loved it live, just fantastic.

I think this album is special to such a lot of people because it is such an integral part of the CHSIB tour (doh, it would be an integral part of it, it's called CHSIB silly me!).  For me, every time I put it on, I'm back in the arena (if only).

This is my favourite album of Meat's, ever.  From the cleverly designed cover, down to the order of tracks, I think it's a stunning album that Meat can rightly be proud of.  It's pure indulgence for anyone with ears.  I can put my hand on my heart and say, even if I wasn't a Meat Loaf fan, I would definitely go out and by this album, it's a joy.

I listen to the drivel on the radio at the moment.  It would be sooo nice to turn it on and be greeted with some of these tracks.

Oops I've gone on a bit haven't I?! Sorry.

Btw, CHSIB is my fave Meat Loaf album, did I mention that?

Love that man, love that voice, love everything that is meaty!

Take care

Batgirl x
