Happy Tuesdays one and all .. and 30th June?? .. where does the time go? Another month nearly over!!!
Geoff and Jacky go back today .. but we've had a great time and really good weather for trotting out and about. Yesterday was REALLY hot!! We went to Bakewell market .. got beautiful strawberries, a bargain replacement phone for me and for Jacky the roasting dish she's been trying to find for ages .. both bargains of course :) .. Then up tp Monsal head for a picnic lunch with a wonderful view .. and wonderful locally made ice-cream .. a saunter through some of the villages including Eyam, the village where the tiny houses all have plaques over the door with the manes of those who loved and died there during the Great Plague .. then back to sit in the sun in the garden.
Jacky is a great nature watcher .. and each night we've done nature watch on the patio as the twilight starts .. watched the foxes come up on the lawn for the bits we'd thrown out for them .. then the bats as they fly off for their nightly endeavours .. and wait for the tawny owls to arrive. Each night we've seen them half hidden in the trees, and on Saturday we saw one on a branch sillouetted perfectly against the darkening sky .. but last night we had two who came and perched on the top of the tree next door and just a few yards away from me .. you could see their eyes they were so close :) And then one after the other they flew gracefully he lenght of the lawn in that wonderful soundless flight owls can do .. Perfect end to the visit :))
Today it's started uull again, but warm and humid .. so it should be a scorcher this afternoon .. and after the non-stop tearing round the countryside of the past 5 days I think I will just take it easy :) .. do a spot of laundry, push the hoover round .. and then enjoy the sun in the garden ..
And tonight .. perhaps owl watch again :)
