Not much happening today. It's a bleak miserable day here. I'll do some shopping later then just relax and watch some shows. But wow what a shock yesterday to hear the news about Michael Jackson, still trying to get my head around it. I woke up to the news about Farrah Fawcett, which saddened me, but then when the news broke about Michael, at first he had a heart attack, then unconfirmed reports he had died, but they weren't sure of the accuracy of the report, but then when I got to work it had been confirmed he had died. It's a shame but I think Farrah's death will be overshadowed by Michael's, since that news came out, she's barely rated a mention. I guess her's was half expected as she had been very ill for quite some time, whereas Michael's was a huge shock and totally unexpected. He was about to embark on a tour next month. Our TV show here ran a competition to go to see him in London, my heart goes out to the winner, he must be absolutely gutted. Imagine his excitement to find out he was the winner, then to have this happen, it would be devastating. I imagine all his fans are pretty devastated. I don't think there's been such a reaction to a celebrity dying since Elvis Presley died. While I was not a huge fan of his, I grew up with his music and liked a few of his songs. I think he was very innocent and naive and was exploited and taken advantage of because of it. I feel he lived a very sad and lonely life, a victim of his own celebrity who couldn't ever step outside his door, without being harrassed by either media or fans, which led to his rather bizarre behaviour and rather weird disguises. I did always feel rather sorry for him, despite all his millions, I don't believe he was ever truly happy and could never life a normal life. Hopefully now he is at peace. Carole

well put Carole... and we're quite in accord... i was watching a bit more on the news about MJ tonight... it was film of him out to a clothing shop and the media right up his bum ... i suppose he really couldn't go out in public at that point in time... it's a case ... perhaps ... if he'd known earlier in life... or someone had taken him by the hand... and steered him ... perhaps things would have turned out differently ... i still find it sad and a shame...

Yeah that's true tink, he became famous at a very early age, and his father mistreated him as a child and was only interested in the money he and his brothers made. He had no one who could help him cope with all the media attention. Carole
I think this pic sums it up really, he is completely different to how he looed when he was young, and the reflection of the media in his glasses, so, the cause, and the product in the same picture really.
I've been catching little bits of the Michael Jackson media, but with the errands piling up...they seem to have taken priority.
Nice to be able to step up again. Weekend is being spent dodging some weather. I would rather have this type of weather than hurricanes believe me....but it does put a damper on the outdoor planning.
Hi Suzie, welcome nice to see you here, and I meant to say to tink, nice to see you back in the step up threads, you've been missed. Weather was nice and sunny today, so I had a lie down in the sun by the pool, too cold in the water to swim though. Then my friends came over, they had a lovely trip. Had a few ****tails and they gave me a bottle of wine and a couple of tops from Las Vegas. Carole

what an interesting picture Melz... and an interesting thought as well ... VH1 classic has been playing three hours of the same MJ videos over and over... nice if you catch it here in the States... and i'm watching it yesterday ... i think it was Black or White... what cool video... and at that time ? ... oooo.. i'm getting goozled thinking about it... MJ was just so beautiful to behold... no really.. and then... OH.. no no... it was Bad... i said to PF... "he should have stopped right there with the surgery because that right there?... that man-child is so beautiful... he brings tears to the eyes".. no really ... MJ must not have been able to look in a mirror and see his outter beauty i guess... such a sad sad shame... sad...
