Here's a review of the Wollongong concert from the Illawarra Mercury Paper. Meat Loaf couldn't have said it better DARKNESS descended, the audience cheered and backstage MeatLoaf stole a sneaky glance at fans from behind a white curtain. Moments later, to a thumping drum beat, he strode onstage with his black velvet jacket flapping behind. A loud beat and the curtain fell to reveal MeatLoaf's band and backing singers. The introduction of Life is a Lemon and I Want My Money Back exploded from the speakers and the singer prowled around the stage, framed by red and blue flashing lights. The concert theatrics had begun. Almost 4000 filled the WIN Entertainment Centre last night to watch the singer and occasional actor work through his repertoire in his Last World Tour concert. For MeatLoaf's fans it was paradise with stage lights as they watched the 56-year-old sing hits such as Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth, Two Out of Three Ain't Bad, Dead Ringer for Love and his latest release Couldn't Have Said it Better. His Wollongong performance came as a relief to many devotees after the singer collapsed on stage during a show at London's Wembley Arena in November. He later required heart surgery. The two-hour concert, which concluded with I'd Do Anything for Love and Bat Out Of Hell, followed performances in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Newcastle with the tour to continue to Perth, Adelaide, Tasmania and New Zealand. MeatLoaf was accompanied by a seven-piece backing band and two backing singers, CC, and long-time stage partner Patti Russo. The support act was his guitarist Kasim Sultan.
