I know you're probably thinking this is a tough question ... there are just too many great songs to choose from. But if you had to narrow it down to just one favorite Meat Loaf song what would it be ? And what makes that song so special for you ?
The first song that popped into my head was Couldn't Have Said It Better --- we went through a really rough time last September and October with a devastating flood at my parent's flag store and listening to CHSIB reminded me of the 2 wonderful concerts I had just seen on the tour and helped me escape from reality. And seeing Meat sing it live for the very first time at the Mohegan Sun arena was a very proud and ovewhelmingly emotional time for me, something I'll never forget.
But after thinking about it, my favorite track still has to be Paradise By The Dashboard Light. Not only because it's a classic (that's a given), but for two other reasons :
(1). Watching Meat and Patti sing it live on VH1 Storytellers was what got me hooked on Meat's music. Before 1999, I had heard of Meat's name, but had never listened to his music, or had any idea what he sounded like. I grew up listening to David Cassidy, Bobby Sherman, and Donny Osmond. Anyway, I happened to be in the local music store one night and saw the Storytellers CD sitting on the shelf. Just for the heck of it, I decided to buy it ... and as soon as I started listening to Paradise, I couldn't stop. When I finally got to see them sing it on tv, I knew I was hooked for life To this day I can still remember wanting to throw something at the tv when Meat said "stay tuned for the 2nd half of this song after these commercial messages"
(2). I will never forget being the "other woman in Paradise" during the Just Having tour in 2002. It was at the State Theater in New Brunswick, NJ. Caryl and I had front row tickets in the Pit Area, on the right hand side of the stage. Meat and Patti were doing the makeout scene on the left hand side of the stage. At one point she pretended to brush him off, and he came walking across the stage. I saw him coming and jumped up right away, hoping to catch his attention. Well it worked He saw me standing there ... pointed and said "at least that one wants me" .... he then stopped right in front of me with the biggest smile on his face, lifting his shirt for a brief second, moving his hips, and motioning for me to come up on stage. I pointed at him and said "no", moved my hips and motioned for him to come down to me. I know this sounds crazy, but for those brief moments the time just stood still and I felt like it was just him and me there ..... but then reality hit. Patti came over, saw what we were doing, glared at me and dragged him back over to the other side of the stage to finish the song. I'll never forget the look on both of their faces.
To this day, whenever I listen to Paradise, I still remember eveything as if happened only yesterday
Geesh Vicki, this is a hard one... I'd have to go with "Paradise" though, because when the hubby and I started dating, so very long ago.. we were barely 17 and this song is.. now after many happy married yrs.. the perfect remembrance of when love is "new". I think of so many happy youthful moments while listening to this song.. of self discovery, discovering each other, the love and the passion of falling in love.. amazing. Words really can't discribe how this song makes me feel... Like Meat himself has said.. the songs become those of the listener... they become their story... well in that case this one is mine! J.

My favourite often changes, A LOT. lol But, one that I have liked, and heard first, was BAT OUT OF HELL.
That would make it an all time favourite. I only heard this record, up until 3 years ago. I first heard BOOH 11 years ago.
I love everything about BAT OUT OF HELL, to the very last second. Every guitar bit, drum bit, background vocal bit. Again, everything. A lot of my songs are my favourite and for so many reasons. But you said ALL TIME favourite, so it would be Bat Out Of Hell.
... yas... this IS a tough one... cuz.. imto... it depends... tho.. i spose.. i do have to list live versions of BOOH as a fave... and the studio AND live version of FCOL... right there at the top... but really .. it depends on my mood... Meat has such a large and wonderful catalog of music.. there's something for every mood.. know what i mean??.. for an instance.. tonite.. as i sit here playing about he internet.. i'm in the mood for the cd CHSIB... on me second listen matter of factly.. there's just something about that pure beginning.. opening... just Meat singing... sans music.. AND YOU SAID NOTHING AT ALL.. and then the music comes in.. ya know?? it's LOverly.. the entire cd is ....

This a very hard question. I can easy narrow it down to 30 and that is without thinking. If I had to chose only one because my life depended on it, I would have to go with "Two Out Of Three Aint Bad". Just because it was the first song I heard of Meats.
Not hard at all for me! Mine is Bat out of Hell for all the reasons I've droned on and on about in the B.O.O.H. posting below! Pretty much all of the rest of his songs take equal second place... the man's my hero..what more can I say?!!!
I'm with you Heidi, it's too hard to single out just one song. Heard Stand By Me on another Meat Loaf site and fell in love with it. Another 24 hours, another mood and another song I guess.

I totaly agree here, how can you choose a favourate song. I can honestly say that i like every song ive heard of meats and i think ive heard just about all of them now! Every version of every song whether its live, album or radio edition, there all fab. Were talkin bout a truly amazing guy here, and he's my all time idol and hero in music.
While his biggest hits are always a winner (" Wasted Youth" being my fav of that group) , songs like " Surfs Up" and " I'll kill you if you don't come back" and "Sailor to a siren ", Amnesty is granted" " Where angels sing( always will be Vee's song), " a man and a woman" " More than you Deserve" and on and on are actually the ones i listen to more often than not. I guess i am a huge fan of his 80's albums. I really love some of those songs. I hope he will bring some of them back b/c they are really good. I had read once he said he'd never sing "Bad for Good" , (think he has however- don't know for sure), but it is a really good song .I love Steinman's "Stark Raving Love". I read once ML thought they were just sort of knock offs of the bat 1 type songs but some of those are good songs- I'd pick " stark raving love" if i had to choose. BTW, don't ask where I read this stuff. After being on the net for 12 years i have read a lot of things from who knows where. I also love listening to " the future ain't what it used to be' Great song.
I am going to have to say "Took the words right out of my mouth". It's also my ringtone. It just has this "feel good" feeling to it. I instantly perk up when I hear it.
