Ok, picture the sceen... It's about half five when we take our places in the queue, thats already about 400 strong. It's absolutely bl**dy freezing. Then it starts to rain. Heavily. Then it starts to hailstone. We have no umberella's and only thin jackets on. I'm beginning to wonder if thia is some kind of Apocolyptic warning, but i don't care. I'm cold, wet, and Chris is muddy, but we don't care. After two postponed shows, we are finally getting to see Meat!!!! We queue for what seems like ages. My watch seems to be stuck on ten past six. Finally they open the doors, but they are only taunting us with the promise of warmth and dryness because it takes them a further 20 mins before they let us in. Then comes the mad rush to get to the front of the stage. Chris and i end up about 6 rows from the front, just to the left of centre stage. I don't particularly mind, cos i'm tall enough to see over the top of the people in front of me. So we wait. And wait. And wait some more. Half seven arrives and we expect Kasim to come out and do his warm up act, but he doesn't, so it's straight to Meat at eight o clock. Patti and CC, who are dressed in lovely little PVC nurses outfits roll out a trolley that Meat is on. Suddenly the Wasted Youth speech starts and the arena erupts. I keep expecting Meat to jump up any second, but i hafta wait for the beginning of Do It for that to happen. The start of Life Is A Lemon was just awesome, with Meat making Paul and Randy work harder and harder. Then Meat grabs a mike stand and is about to burst into song when he looks down and realises that there's actually no microphne in the holder - his face was a picture!! After dashing off and quickly geting one he belts out Lemon with such power and energy that sets the tone for the rest of the show. After Lemon came Mercury Blues, which truly rocked, followed by Lawyers, Guns and Money which is a particular fave of mine, and he did it very, very well. I kept scanning Meat for any signs of his recent illness, but he looked terrific, much better than i've seen him look in a long long while. Next came DeadRinger For Love, and that's when Meat came into his own. He played the crowd so well that he had us eating out of his hands - and we loved every second of it!!! For me, one of the highlights of the show was when Meat took Patti's pink feather boa, draped it around his shoulders, walked to centre stage, looked at the crowd, and said, completely dead-pan 'Real men can wear feather boa's too..' then carried on singing. Classic. After a very country - type Testify came All Revved Up With No Place To Go. Fantastic. Meat looked stunning in a red and white jacket with a big 'M' on it - I WANT ONE!!!!!!! He asked if there were any ladies that would like to be his girlfriend, and screams of 'ME ME ME!!!' nearly deafened him. And that was just from me.... Then came the real highlight of the show, Took The Words Right Outta My Mouth. It was rocking completely, really fabulous, when suddenly Meat held up his hand and tells us to shut up. He told the band to stop playing, and he asked for the house lights to be turned up. He then went on to apologise for having to postpone the previous two concerts due to ill health. He said that as a thank you to all his fans for putting up with this then he would 'Give a kiss to each and every one of us after the show'. He then went on to say 'And ladies, that's WITH tounges.....' The crowd went beserk!!! He then said he was dissapointed with us, because he knew that we could sing better than we had been doing, so he had us singing louder and louder and louder untill he was satisfied, but the crowd just kept on going, getting even louder. Meat was just stood there in complete amazement, watching us. It was as if he could feel the love that was directed right at him. Then came CHSIB, which was outstanding. Patti looked amazing in her little blue dress, and her voice was spectacular. After that came another one of my faves, Frying Pan, which was superb. Paul and Randy were just amazing, i felt honoured to watch them, they were that good. The special effect flames halfway through were a great touch. Meat, as always, seriously rocked. Then came another heart stopping moment. I thought to myself, no..it cant be...but it was!!!! Midnight At The Lost And Found!!!!!!! Ive never heard Meat sing this live before and it was just magical. The atmosphere in the crowd was electric, we knew we were watching something special, and Meat and the band picked up on this. Randy and Paul played out of thier skins. Then it was time for Paradise. Again superb. Meat looked sexy as hell in a sparkly gold leather jacket, and Patti was stunning in a blond wig and and skintight pants. The tickertape ending was truly spectacular - completely took me by surprise and was just amazing. After many agonising minites, Meat and the rest of the band came back out and stated singing Anything For Love. It was truly amazing. Meat sang it with so much passion and feeling, it sent shivers through me and i had tears in my eyes. Patti, ever the stunner, was sprawled on a cool purple chaise long which started to 'levitate' as she started to sing. It was awesome. I've never really had much time for AFL, but seeing Meat and Patti perform it last night has just won me over completely. Last but not least, it was time for Bat Out Of Hell. Utterley, utterley, utterley, utterley fantastic. Meat and the band put everything they had into it, and boy, did it show. The band completely excelled themselves, Meat was perfect, and i can honestly say that the whole of the CIA was left wanting more. Coming home on the train, i thought about what i had just witnessed. Words really don't do it justice. Meat was just outstanding. Completely superb. Meat totally rocked Cardiff last night, and i don't think Cardiff will ever fully recover. I know i won't. I don't want to!!!! Sorry, i've gone on a bit, i know - but for those who weeren't able to be there, i just wanted you to get the idea...
