I enjoy all of Meat's movies .... but for me it's Crazy in Alabama. He truly gets lost in the character of the bigotted evil Sherriff Doggett, which to me is a sign of a very gifted actor. I'll never forget the look on his face as he knelt down by the pool ... I read someplace that it was a difficult role for Meat to play, and given his personality, I can understand why.
I didn't see it when it came out in the theater .... I bought the DVD. Admittedly I first wanted to see it because I knew Meat was one of the stars .. but I was soon engrossed in it, and how Meat's central character brought the two seemingly different storylines together. Meat has always said he's an actor first .... and as much as I love the music and enjoy that character he takes on stage, I hope he continues to pursue his movie career and gets offered more substantial roles like Sherriff Doggett (and Fred in Focus) in the future.
Think mine has to be Focus. Meat brings such a subtle portrayal to the character of Fred. It would be so easy for Fred to seem simply a bully, but watching the film I could see what was driving him to behave in the way he did.
I always consider the mark of a gifted actor is that they can convey what's going on inside a character whilst on the surface there's a different image .. Alec Guinness was a master of this .. could convey what his character was thinking whilst barely moving a muscle in his face .. and I was struck how well Meat did that as Fred.
Had Focus been a "Hollywood" movie I think Meat could have been in line for a Best Supporting oscar .. such a powerful performance.

I have to mention 3 movies here that I love Meat in( I like all his movie) these are my favs though, and all for differant reasons. 1) Focus, this movie really showed off Meats acting abilities of a not so savory character. Really liked how Meat conveyed how torn "Fred" was about being friends with his neighbor and then also being pulled into the mood and ideas of the time period, the movie portrayed. 2) Everything That Rises, I picked this one for the sheer joy of the movie it self.. reminiscent of the Walt Disney movies of my childhood. 3) Roadie, only got this movie recently and what I really love about this movie is.. everyone should have a "Traviis Redfish" in their life.. some one to love you unconditionally! Plus the fact that Meat made you just fall in love with the sweetness of the Travis character. J.

I have a really hard time narrowing this down to a handful....I love "Roadie" just because there is so MUCH of Meat in it- I get used to seeing him briefly in films, then Roadie is all Meat, all the time! Plus, I have to agree- Travis is just the sweetest thing on two legs! I also enjoyed "Blacktop", because there was such a range to the character- Meat started out all humble and sweet and did a slow burn to becoming completely unhinged! "Everything the Rises" is a fave because of Meat's wardrobe...oh my, jeans and a cowboy hat... and the comedic spin he brought to the character. I loved him as Bob Paulson in Fight Club, but I love everything about Fight Club! What am I missing- I loved him in Focus and Crazy In Alabama and Rustin- he brought a bit of a sympathetic portrayal to characters that a lesser actor would have shown as pure evil, and that's an accomplishment. I could add a half dozen more, but I suppose I have rambled on enough! In summary: Any movie with Meat is a movie worth watching!

Oh Sherrie... Meat dressed and playing the part of a cowboy in "Everything that Rises" was so awesome! I loved "Red" he was such a good friend and a comedic side kick to Quaids character... I'll never forget that oh so funny scene, where Red is getting his pant inseam measured.. I was just cracking up over that one.. just thinking about it makes me giggle.. to funny! J.

Yes, I love the scene where Dennis Quaid asks him "what does your inseam measure?" and Meat says "pretty much from my a** to the floor." Too funny! Sheesh, now I'm gonna have to watch that one again.

Now I'm going to have too watch "Everything" again as well.. because Sherrie,I can't remember hearing that line.. I was refering to.. when Randy goes to talk to his wife and leaves Meat there holding the measuring tape, and the old lady comes by and says" what do you think you are measuring?" I almost chocked laughing at that line.. priceless. J.

Blacktop Black Dog Rocky Horror Picture Show Leap Of Faith Wayne's World
But I know he is in a lot more. When I get paid this week I'm going to go into the video store and see what else they have with Meat Loaf in it.
My favourite would be Blacktop though, I believe Meat Loaf played Jack really really well.
Funny thing was, at the Christchurch concert Meat Loaf said he wasnt someone you would want to meet in a dark alley, he was talking to the critics, and of course he was joking around...but seeing him play the part of Jake, he's right, I wouldnt want to meet him in a dark alley haha.
PS, here os a list of movies that feature Meat Loaf. I assume because it is Meat Loaf related I'm allowed to post it, but if not I'm sure it will be removed and my apologies will be dispensed, hehe.
Hi... I've only seen TRHPS and Fight Club up to now and I have to say that Meat's appearance was put to the back of my mind as I tried to follow the plot of the latter... still not really sure that ' I got it '!!! Perhaps a second viewing is necessary to really understand it but I'm not sure I could put myself through it again... it's pretty crazy! So for me it must be Rocky though that may have all changed by tonight as I have just received my copy of Crazy in Alabama through the post...am very excited and gonna make an afternoon of watching it...can hardly wait!!! See yer later...
You know, this question is just as hard to answer as to what is your favorite song. I can't narrow it down to only one, maby top three.
1. Fight Club: can't help, but to fall in love with Bob.
2. Crazy In Alabama: not only was Meat's performance well done, but the movie itself was well written and directed. I love how there were two storylines intertwined into one.
3. Black Top: Meat is the main character. I think he does a wonderful job protraying a psycho.
