Meat Loaf Live With The Mebourne Symphony

I have been totally engrossed in the concert on disc 1 since the day I got the DVD. I even went so far as to buy a small Home Theater system for my office so I could enjoy it in true digital surround sound .. the way it's meant to be

I won't give you a blow by blow description of each song ..... I'm sure some will, and that's great, because I'd love to read what other people think and compare notes   But I want to give everyone the chance to see it and share the magic before I spoil any surprises ....

In my mind there truly aren't enough words to describe the overall concert .... astounding, breathtaking, amazing, incredible, brilliant, overwhelming ..... Meat's facial expressions and interaction with the crowd, Patti and the rest of the band, the way the concert was filmed, the sound and quality of the picture on the DVD .. I felt like I was sitting right there in the front row of the audience the entire time.

But I can sum up how I felt about Meat in one word ...... pride. Maybe it's because I admire him so much, who knows.  As I sit here with my eyes glued on him during the concert, I feel a sense of pride, just like when I watched him and Patti Russo sing CHSIB for the first time over a year ago at the Mohegan Sun Arena during his last world tour.

In Melbourne he gave it his all, and put on the most amazing concert that I have ever seen in my life.  He looked great (especially in the vest), his voice never sounded better ... he was truly in fine form, and enjoying every second of it. Yes, I was extremely proud, and wish I could just give him a hug and pat on the back and say well done !! And I would also add that I'm very grateful ... grateful that he filmed this amazing concert for all of us to enjoy and let us share in his moment of triumph. These songs are classic .... sung by the master, and backed up by, as Meat would say, the best band in rock and roll and the magnificence of the Melbourne Symphony orchestra !!

Now as if the 2 1/2 hours of a rocking great time on the 1st disc wasn't enough, the 2nd disc is filled to the brim with so many goodies, including a hysterical behind the scenes featurette, and a commentary track with Meat describing the show and telling the stories as only he can !!   The commentary is so hysterical ... I know this sounds crazy, but the sound quality is so good that listening to it makes me feel like he's sitting right here in the room next to me !  I actually caught myself telling him to shut up when he was going on and on and on about the vest

Meat .. if you ever read this ... I couldn't agree more about the black coat and white shirt ... but I hope you decided keep the vest

Believe me, I could go on for hours discussing how amazing this DVD is .... but that's something you need to discover for yourselves.  Given time, I hope you'll all have the chance, because it's truly magical and something you'll never forget !!

Bravo Meat ... Bravo !! Congratulations to you, the entire NLE, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and everyone else involved.   You did us all very proud   Well done !!  Thank you for this wonderful gift you have given us ... and thank you for allowing all of us to share that memorable evening with you !!

Ditto to that!  I was there on the 22nd February!  Only hassle I have now is getting hold of the DVD.  The CD set has been released here in Oz and I have just about killed it (along with my neighbours sensibilities!)  When and where can we get a copy?  So far, I have only been seing DVDs for other regions (we're region 4 here in Oz.)

Matured to perfection, Meat.  Thanks for the experience!
