Meat on Live From Studio 5 April 20th

Ian Wright is the lead presenter of 3 on the show .. and of course Meat knows him. They were well versed in the album, song titles and the style/mood, how it changes as you move through the album etc. One felt that they'd heard it and liked it.

Meat starts by saying "Ian and I go back a long way .. we were on a Christmas show together and sang a carol .. then I played golf with him for two days (that was the pro-celeb golf tournament I went to in Wales) He's pretty good .. I was playing good prety good that day against him and Chfis Evans. I won a few holes off them .. it was fun"

Asked re the success of BOOH if he could feel it was going to be the success it was ..

"Oh I was young .. I had no idea what I was doing back then. In 1977 if you sold 100K records you got to sing another one .. so that's what we were thinking of ..

Of the album title (which they liked) .. "That's the point .. makes people think and talk"

They said it had hit 4 in the mid-week charts .. do chart positions still matter?

!Oh ys .. I'm thrilled, really thrilled. Paul Weller's an English singer who's really big here at number one .. then there's AC/DC .. and ...  so we're in at number 4 and I'm happy .. I'm sixty two and still out there hammering!!"

On the album .. brief resume of the story then
"Rob Cavallo just the best producer (runs through his credits and awads) he really brings out the best in an artist .. builds their confidence .. mine soared .."

Clip from Los Angeloser .. then
"I've said all along Iplay Fire and Ice .. it's good and evil .. I see it fire and ice .. had real fun making it"

Asked about Hugh Laurie

"Yes, I did a House episode .. was filming for four days. Hugh is so giving as an actor .. really wanted you to be good on his show. And I thought .. he plays piano really well .. so I wrote a note and gave it to his assistant .. gave him the note asing if he'd like to play on the album .. and he says are you kidding? I'd love to!"

On the duet with Jack Black ..

Oh yesss .. Jack and I had said we'd do something together .. I said to Rob .. shall we get Jack to do this song .. he went 'Jack BLACK?? Are you kidding?' .. and ran into his house and told hos 14 year old son "'Jack Black's coming to the house!!' Jack was in London filming, and I emailed him and messed up, didn't reply .. then he was appearing at .. and I was here .. I went up and bumped into him and said 'Watch where you're going' .. and he goes "Hey DOOOOD!!! Thought we were goigng to jam Dude!!" .. hives his imperonation of Jack :))

Then the signing is mentioned .. asked how it was .. does he still like meeting the fans ..

"I really like meeting them .. burt people can be so nervous .. I say 'You should be nerous if you're going to hospital for suurgery!' .. but I understand that .. I met Elvis and all I could do was nod and go 'Mmm yeah' .. and I met Joh Lennon .. sitting next to him in a coffee place .. and all I could come up wit was Thanks for passing the sweet n low as I left"

Ended with Ian Wright quoting from Peace On Earth .. and Meat saying

"It's a wonderful record .. I'm really emotionally attached to this record"

Great interview, with Meat relaxed and responding enthusiastically to a team of interviewers who knew the work he is promoting and were enthusiastic about it.
